Dr. Venita Roberson, Ph.D.

Dr. Venita Roberson, Ph.D. – BIO Dr. Roberson’s goals are very much a reflection of her values. It is her greatest desire to teach and advise in order to transform the students and student athletes into individuals of high intellect and purpose. To achieve this end, she plans to assist in their social, psychological and physical development. Dr. Roberson is the first African American to earn a Doctorate in Exercise and Sports Psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in 2002. She also earned her Masters of Education from the University of Central Oklahoma in Community Jr. College Education, with a minor in Health Physical Education Recreation & Dance in Edmond, Oklahoma and her Bachelors of Science degree in Health Physical Education Recreation & Dance from Langston University, in Langston Oklahoma. Dr. Roberson is currently the CEO of Sports Consultants Inc. She also recently retired as an Assistant Professor from North Carolina A &T State University. 

She served as a visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Texas Woman’s University. Her duties consisted of teaching students and student athletes how to critically think, prioritize, design time management plans, and manage stress. Dr. Roberson was also an Assistant Professor in Sports Administration at Grambling State University, where she coordinated the undergraduate program in Sport Management and taught courses in Sport Administration and advised graduate students and student athletes. Dr. Roberson has conducted seminars and Motivational Empowerment workshops for foundations, colleges and universities, as well as for soccer, basketball, football, tennis, baseball, softball golf teams, and a figure skater. She is an avid golfer and was the Director of the P.L.A.Y. GOLF program for the Golf Association of Philadelphia in Southeastern, PA. Her duties were to assist 14 United States Golf Associations (USGA) funded Jr. Golf Programs in the Greater Philadelphia area. She also started other Jr. Golf Programs in Philadelphia, Louisiana, Georgia and in her hometown of Ardmore, Oklahoma, which was also funded by the USGA. Dr. Roberson was the assistant director of communications and career adviser for the Oklahoma City Twisters minor league football team. She was also the first African American female to receive a certificate for an Amateur boxing judge in the state of Oklahoma. As a direct result of working for a sport agent with the Professional Athletic Consultants of Texas (PACT) she formed a company called the Professional Athletic Consultants of Oklahoma (PACO). Dr. Roberson worked as a sport enhancement consultant on such issues as team building, injury and rehabilitation, emotional intelligence, stress and anger management, impulsive behavior, motivation, imagery, goal setting, and emotional coping

The Purpose
Bouncing Back from  sportinjuries online radio
show will speak to athletes in and out of the
“game” who have been affected psychologically
from injuries and making transitions to the “game”
of business and other careers.
Mission
Bouncing Back with Dr. V’s online radio show will
present inspiring sports interviews from college
athletes, amateur, professional, Olympic athletes,
coaches, athletic directors, sports psychologist,
orthopedic and sport medicine doctors, physical
therapists, athletic trainers, athletic organizations,
parents, and retired athletes who have learned to
cope and overcome their injuries and are making
successful transitions from sports and sport
injuries. The interviews will also highlight the
achievement of those who are making positive
contributions in their communities.
Vision
“Nothing is more disconcerting than not sure what
to do next”. The interviews will also appeal to those
athletes who have not made smooth transitions
and are learning how to cope and bounce back
from their injuries.
